Armed police sent to Yateley amid reports of man with gun

Armed police have been spotted in Yateley amid reports of a man with a gun. Multiple residents reported on social media that they saw police officers with guns in the town on Saturday afternoon (March 20). It comes just days after two gunshots were fired in Yateley, on Tuesday (March 16), sparking an investigation into an alleged attempted murder, for which a man has since been charged.

The incident on Saturday is reported to be around the area of Southwark Close, which is where police have been seen talking to residents. Hampshire Constabulary has since issued a statement to say a man who was wanted in connection with Tuesday’s shooting was spotted in the area, and the search is related to that. The National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter was hovering over the town for a large part of the afternoon.
