Robber pulled knife on Tesco security guard

A man who repeatedly stole booze from a Tesco store and then threatened a security guard with a knife has been jailed. Andrew O’Grady, 48, of Granby Court, Bletchley, stole alcohol from the store in Melrose Avenue on a number of occasions on New Year’s Eve 2020. The final time he entered the store, he was confronted by a security guard.

He admitted robbery and theft and was jailed for three years and nine months at Aylesbury Crown Court on Thursday, September 30. One count of having an article with a blade or point was ordered to lie on file. Investigating officer, PC David Smith, based at Milton Keynes police station, said: “I am pleased that O’Grady pleaded guilty to these offences and has now been sentenced for his behaviour.

“I believe that this sentence shows that the action taken by Mr O’Grady won’t be tolerated.

“Thames Valley Police work tirelessly to ensure that offenders are brought to justice and will continue to do so.”
