Scots security guard says Piers Morgan is ‘more famous than Jamie Redknapp’
A SCOTS security guard left Piers Morgan delighted after claiming he’s more famous than Jamie Redknapp. The golf club worker claimed the TV host is more well-known than the footie pundit and ex-Liverpool star.
Piers and Jamie competed in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship
It came as the two celebs got the chance to play in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in St Andrews. They competed alongside sports stars such as Dutch footie legend Ruud Gullit and cricket legends Michael Vaughan and Shane Warne.
Celebs such as actor Bill Murray and singer Ronan Keating were also taking part. Piers was paired with young Scots golfer Connor Syme during the tournament – which typically sees pros and celebs mix together in teams. Special guests at the golf tournament enjoyed a plush Gala Dinner last night – and were treated to a performance from Keane frontman Tom Chaplin and Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford.
Piers shared the hilarious clip with the security guard on his Instagram story in a bid to get one-up on Redknapp. The guard struggled to restrain his laughter as he said: “Piers Morgan’s more famous than Jamie Redknapp.” Morgan then replied: “Thanks mate.”
The former GMB host shared a pic alongside Redknapp and Gullit on the golf course as they enjoyed getting the chance to play the iconic course.
Sharing another pic, he said: “The face of a man who can’t believe he’s actually playing in a professional golf tournament at St Andrews @thehomeofgolf, what a privilege, and what fun.” Piers also apologised for accidentally smashing a golf ball into an iconic St Andrews hotel after taking a woeful shot. He joked: “Apologies for smashing up the hotel roof on the 17th.”
And he also congratulated Englishman and former Masters champion Danny Willett on his victory in the competition.
